At my cousin’s baby shower, she asked if she could fly me up to D.C. to do a newborn photography session when her sweet baby boy was born. I truly didn’t know if she was 100% serious about it but I am so so glad she was! Funny enough, Theo came early when I wasn’t even in Florida! I actually ended up being in Massachusetts at the time with my boyfriend who just so happened to be driving down to the D.C. area for a golf tournament. So we made our way to Virginia and my cousins husband picked me up from his hotel.
I always take my time with newborn photos because you can’t rush a baby haha. You never know what is going to come your way with little ones but it was so nice to feel like we had the whole day since I was staying with them. It was so amazing to see D’Anna and Daniel live out one of the early days of motherhood and fatherhood.
The patience and love parents have for their newborn babies is beautiful. Your days slow down, you lose sleep but I can tell your heart grows bigger. I think times like this really show what matters in life. I feel so blessed to have been able to not only photograph this precious time but to also learn from my cousin and her husband about what it really is to be a parent.
